Flowers- Naivasha
There are about 30 flower farms in Naivasha worth touring. Some of the flowers that go to markets abroad include roses and violets can be seen being cultivated here. While at Naivasha visiting this ornamental plant farms, one cannot fail to see the copious wildlife that the ecosystem here supports. They include Zebras, giraffes and more than 350 bird species. Coffee- Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare
Coffee was introduced to the country in late 19 th century. Unlike many countries, Kenya produces one of the world's first-rate coffees. The coffee flavors range from wine-like to citrus. There are over 560,426 coffee farms in Kenya, distributed around the country. The major coffee growing zones are around Aberdare and Mt. Kenya. When touring this coffee growing zone, one will have an opportunity of seeing the crops in the field, the fauna and flora found around these regions. Pineapples- Thika
Thika is some 45 KM away from the capital city. Pineapples here are grown and processed for export. During an excursion to this farm, one gets to see how pineapples are cultivated and harvested. A pineapple -processing plant is sited near the farm. One gets to be acquainted with the steps followed in the factory during processing. The town has good accommodation. Alternatively due to its location near the city, accommodation can be sort here.
Tea- Kericho
Kericho is found in the highlands regions of the Great Rift Valley. The soils here are fertile and temperatures are cold. From far, tea farms offer an exciting spectacle resembling green sports field that has been circumspectly trimmed. While on an excursion to a tea farm, one gets to see pickers exhibiting their expertise. One can tour the factory to see how the leaves are processed into tea and packaged.
Sisal
Kenya is the second world producer of sisal. While in Kenya we will arrange a visit at your request to the sisal farms. During the visit you will see sisal growing. Know how they processed into different final products that bring export revenue to the country.
Rice
Rice is grown in large scale in various parts of the country. Such areas include Mwea Tebere on your way to Mt. Sugar Cane
This crop is normally cultivated in large scale in the western part of the country. The climate here is normally the tropical type. The Kakamega area has two sugarcane factories that tourists can visit and see how sugarcane is processed. While in a visit to the sugarcane farms one have another option of visiting the natural rainforest, Kakamega Forest. It is inhabited by different plant and animal species. |
